Animals remember what we choose to forget. They carry migration routes in their bodies, hold trauma in their DNA, and archive environmental changes in their behaviors. For September's Curator's Picks, we're seeking works that explore how the non-human world creates, holds, and transmits its own records.
We invite artists of all mediums and disciplines to submit work that reflects on themes including:
✧ Animals as witnesses to environmental change
✧ Interspecies memory and communication
✧ Ancestry, gesture, and generational echo
✧ The politics of human-animal relationships
✧ Extinction as erasure, conservation as archiving
✧ Animal bodies as repositories of evolutionary history
✧ Domestication and wildness as states of being
✧ Anthropomorphism vs. genuine animal subjectivity
✧ Mythological and real animals as cultural archives
Think about how animals appear in your practice. What do they remember that we don't? How do they archive experience in ways humans cannot? What histories do they hold in their bodies, their territories, their behaviors?
