This month, Artit turns its gaze to illumination, not just as a force of nature, but as a metaphor, a memory, and a material.For August’s Curator’s Picks, we’re building a new entry in the Artit archives: a collection exploring light in all its conceptual, emotional, and visual forms.We’re calling on artists to explore themes of:

 ✧ shadows, silhouettes, afterimages

✧ light as memory, exposure, witness

✧ luminosity and distortion

✧ projection, disappearance, reflection

✧ artificial light, natural light, imagined light

Selected works will be featured in our upcoming Spotlight article on light // archives — part of Artit’s ongoing curated editorial series.

We aim to platform artists meaningfully — by placing their work in conversation with others, and within a reflective, research-driven curatorial context.

✧ Sign Up and Create Your Profile
Register on the ARTIT platform and set up your artist portfolio. Include your name, social media profiles, and a concise artist bio. This helps introduce you to our global audience and provides insight into your artistic journey.

✧ Upload Your Artworks
Add your artworks to your portfolio, including clear descriptions for each piece. Be sure to specify the title, medium, and dimensions, and share what each artwork represents to you. We encourage you to showcase additional works to give our jury a fuller understanding of your artistic vision and style.

✧ Submit Your Work to the Call
Select the pieces that best reflect your artistic identity and align with the theme of the call. Ensure your submission captures your personal connection to the subject and resonates with the spirit of the call.

All submissions will be reviewed by the Artit editorial and curatorial team.

Works will be selected based on:

✧ Relevance to the theme
✧ Originality and artistic expression
✧ Emotional and visual impact
✧ Clarity of concept

We’re especially interested in works that treat light not only as a visual tool, but as metaphor, material, or memory. From harsh fluorescents to gentle glows, illumination can reveal, distort, soothe, or overwhelm.

Emerging and established artists are equally encouraged to apply.
